To government agencies (Local, State, and Federal), and commercial institutions such as schools, banks, and real estate agencies. Our field technicians and consultants are Certified Asbestos Consultants (CAC) and Certified Industrial Hygienists, certified by State of California, Division of Occupational Safety and Health; knowledgeable in all AHERA protocols and OSHA Regulations

A known carcinogen is found in thousands of construction products and is present in almost every building constructed prior to 1980. Due to the harmful effects of asbestos fibers, regulations have been enacted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to protect the health and safety of building employees, occupants and construction workers.
J&A helps clients comply with these regulations by conducting building surveys and providing comprehensive assessment reports; and addressing all the asbestos management, emergency response, and regulatory compliance issues that confront building managers.
J&A develops creative, cost-effective solutions to asbestos problems, including public relations support and oversees all aspects of the asbestos abatement project from initial planning through final documentation.

A major effort is currently underway to reduce exposure to lead in paints and soil. Exposure to lead is a serious public health problem, particularly for children under seven years of age. It is estimated that 17 percent of the children in the United States are exposed to environmental sources of lead that place them at risk of developing adverse health effects. Lead is also a concern for construction personnel such as demolition workers, painters, and welders, who may be exposed to lead-containing dust during renovation and demolition activities. J&A provides lead testing and consulting services for potential buyers, facilities owners and managers, public housing agencies, developers, apartment building owners, lenders, schools, and daycare centers. J&A assists in identifying current and potential hazards that may arise during disturbance of paint.

The EPA estimates that 60 percent of the buildings in the United States have poor indoor air quality, resulting in health problems, reduced productivity, and strained landlord/tenant relationships. The latter may foster negative publicity that creates potential liability for building owners.

J&A investigates indoor air quality problem exists, pinpoints the most probable cause, and determines the most effective solution. J&A performs: Building Studies; Prevention Programs; Evaluation of Construction Materials

Indoor aeroallergens such as mold and pollen are widely recognized as contaminants which adversely affect human health. According to a 1998 CDC study, asthma affects 10 million adults and 5 million children per year with costs reaching over $10 billion per year for medical care. The same study implicates allergic rhinitis as a disease exacerbated by indoor pollutants. Allergic rhinitis, also known as “runny nose”, affects more than 40 million people per year and accounts for 3.5 million lostwork days, 2 million missed school days, and direct costs exceeding $4 billion.

To assist the industry in identifying the indoor pollutants that are known to be harmful to the human population, J&A performs qualitatively and quantitatively sample for airborne, surface and carpet contaminants such as mold, pollen, fiberglass, animal dander, and insect biodetritus. J&A performs inspection and evaluation, prepares the necessary documents, designs and assist to implement remedial action
